Here are two quick pictures of the fortress at Carcassonne. As you can see its a bit like a real life Disney land, only less Mickey and more kitch.
Two quick pictures of the Papal palace at Avignon. Its no Vatican City from what I hear, especially after revolutionaries destroyed what they could back when good ol’ king Louis lost his noggin. But theydidnt have the Roman ruins to start building from, either.
Heres a relic of someone else who lost his head in the Abbey of St.Victor in Marseille. They were frowning on pictures of their black madonna, so I sneaked a picture of this instead.(It is also located outside of the crypt) I am no saint, but I think it would kind of suck to have your skull stuck in a cold little box for eternity.
Here is the Colloseum at Arles. Not too much to say but do not let them sucker you into the 4 ancient sites tickets. Outside of the colloseum, you can see pretty much everything from the fence and save yourself a few euros.
Here is the Duomo in Milan. Like virtually everything else we have come across, it is under construction.
